Uploading Feed

Top  Previous  Next

Feed Editor allows you to upload your RSS feed to a server using the built-in FTP-client. To invoke its window, click the “Upload Feed” button in the Feed toolbar or select the “Upload…” item of the Feed menu.

upload-dialog

You will need some information before you can upload the RSS feed to your website. This information will most likely be the same information that you needed to upload web pages to your web server.

FTP server

FTP server address (it is usually the domain name of your website).

Username

Username to log on to the FTP server.

Password

Password to log on to the FTP server.

Passive mode

If this is checked, the program will use the passive mode to work with FTP server (this is usually the case with an xDSL connection)

Feed/Enclosure/Image Path

The folder of the FTP server, where you want to place your RSS feed (e.g. “www” or “public_html” or “mainwebsite_html”, relative the default folder you are placed in when you log in to the FTP server).

"Browse" button

The folder icon to the right of the FTP Path will allow you to browse to the appropriate folder on the FTP server (highly recommended).

Filename

The filename that you want to assign to your feed/enclosure/image.

After all necessary data is entered, press the “Upload” button. Feed Editor keeps a log of FTP sessions. To view the log, press the “View Log” button.

Notes.

· Use the standard extensions: ".xml" or ".rss" for your feeds.
· Be careful when filling the “Path” field. The most popular mistake is providing an incorrect path to the server folder.
· If you use an image in your RSS feed (the “Image” tab), make sure that the path to the image (the “Image URL” field) is absolute (for example, http://www.mysite.com/my-image.gif).
· Do not hesitate to contact our tech support. Moreover, our Support Forums is a great place to receive necessary help and information.
