JPEG to GIF
Both JPEG and GIF image formats use
compression for storing images, but they differ by their compression methods.
- JPEG is best suited for
photographs, including portraits. In addition to a high degree of
compression, this format provides the best visual image presentation.
JPEG's
notable shortcomings are its lack of support of transparency (alpha channel)
and poor quality of high-contrast images.
- The GIF format uses a lossless
compression algorithm. If you need to reduce the file size without
sacrificing color information, GIF might be your choice. GIF files are often
used for making simple animations, including animated smilies. The GIF
format is ideal for web designers, especially because it lets them create
small files and supports transparency.
Image Assistant lets you convert JPEG images to
GIF in one click. You can also batch-convert multiple files. In the
batch mode, you can apply multiple operations to images, such as rotation,
color correction, watermarking, cropping, and so on.
